I remember watching this on PBS when I was young. It is proof that British humor was so much more subtle than the states. I heard that an American network tried to rework "Butterflies" for its viewers, but we didn't get it - it never made it past the pilot episode. Like "Coupling", most US TV watchers just don't get comedy unless it's crude and crass. I like that too, but there's really something to be said for shows that make the viewers think for the funny.

Its due to shows lie this that I feel the BBC perfected the concept of television shows. Makes me wish American TV could have been like this....

This may have been the first episode of Butterflies I saw. What a crush I had on Ria. Her flirtations with the accidental stranger played havoc with my mind it a deliciously wicked way.
