  • Hello, Im Don Im now 52. I lost all my toes and half my left foot due to pneumococal bacterial meningitis and sepsis ten years ago. Pain and ulcers, infections have been constant and incredible. Burned out on the pain meds. Im seriosly thinking BKA for left foot. Wish id amputated in the first place. Wish you luck Hun, I know and feel your pain. Move to Maine, your low income being student, great free care here.-Don

  • @dezdon01

Lol Maine is awesome but not exactly do-able. Husbands job and all. Of course our situations are different, but I can tell you that going BKA on the right to escape the ongoing problems was the best choice I could've made. Hope you're doing well. Please let me know how it all works out for you.

  • Amputation is something I am facing at the moment due to diabetes......You have helped me so much......thankyou!

  • You're truly an inspiration. If you haven't already watch the video called "No arms no legs no worries" - It made me cry (from happiness) :3

  • Thx for the reply, I just completed a "Spinal Cord Stimulator" trial for pain management and it went great! Awesome technology, I am going to have the permanent one installed as soon as the surgeon books the date for me. That solves 50% of my foot problem, now to fix the chronic ulcer and vain problems. I was told once by a Dr. that doing a BTK ampy just moves the pain to that location now, do you feel thats true? Thx, -Don

  • Bless you. Life must be so harsh, living with this for whole life. I think u made the rite choice though, ampitation is scary but logical (comming from a future orthopedic surgeon) may G-d bless you and help you in your darkest hours -3
