Film Noir Short: MOTEL BLACK

A dark noir tale of morality centered around two hitmen in a motel.

Motel Black is a dark noir short film I've been working on this past spring semester. This piece I wrote features an amazingly beautiful performance by Reggie Mullens and stylish Sin City noir lighting... watch and enjoy ;)

Overall not bad but Need someone who can do sound. Music would help this piece 10 times the little at the end dosen't support the begining. Even with the film noir you still need to seperate the subject from the background. The black guy's not bad did not believe the white guy. also don't just tell, show. The little at the end was not enough. If while he's telling his story you could do some quick cuts to what he's talking about would help tell the story without words and a few crescendo.

Video is over exposed at least by 2 stops not to mention the background. At 1:34 to 1:50 the camera guy was fucking with the IRIS adjusting it in the middle of the take...You also need a 35mm camera adapter so your depth of field is shallow enough to separate the subject from the background as they are pasted in there. You should look for LETUS Ultimate series 35mm DOF adapter.

I wanna see the Mullens do more. Guy's got talent, would be interested to see him in some more projects.

im a bit of a perfectionist so... the only problem i had is prob the white guy. it just felt like he was just saying the lines. an actor never acts. but thats a small ault in a good short film. bravo.

This is what I call a film noir short. All these other ones I keep seeing are so amateur. You guys did this one really well. You guys are gettin' somewhere. I'm an aspiring filmmaker myself, and I'm also writing a short noir film.

You are totally on to something here man. The dialogue is spot on and boarder line poetic. You are taking full advantage of the black & white both visually and metaphorically. Even the acting is above par for a project like this. Way to go.

Very good work. The writing was great and really matched the mood without going into the realm of cliche. All the parts really flowed together very nicely, from the cinematography to the black and white to the music. Also, great acting by both actors but especially by Mr. Reggie Mullens. Good work.
