These are the Westinghouse Traction Elevators, modernized by Schindler, with the unpredicably unreliable Miconic 10 Controller (Mi-"Chronic" 10 is more accurate). at the Marriott Marquis, Times Square, New York, New York.
Since there's plenty of people that are NOT Elevator Enthusiasts who watch this channel, a thorough description of the system, and how it works (or suposed to, in this case), is presented.
We ride the 3 types of elevators here, the Hotel Glassbacks, the "Innie" (Interior), and one slower lift that serves "The View", a rotating restaurant on the top 2 levels. (The low-rise lifts are pointless, so they were skipped.)
As many say, the flawed elevators behave well when being recorded, but not in this case. It enters "Phantom" calls, ignores requests, and frequently failed. In some cases not shown on video, I took the escalators, because it refused my calls to 8, and to get to my room, I was going to hitch a ride on a lift that came closest to my floor (30), and take the MPE to get there. Let's not forget the occasional 10 to 30 second wait between stops, after the doors close. On top of that, only the low-rise side would accept my high-rise calls half the time. Way to go, Schindler.
...and now you know why I call these the Mi-"Chronic" 10.

  • at the beginning, YOU WERE ON THE LOW RIISE BANK WHICH GOES TO 27!

  • @Ih8ads

Try paying attention to the video. You would CLEARLY HEAR, AND READ, High-Rise calls only worked on the Low-Rise side.

  • @georgef551 george I saw car J on your bank and it goes to 27!!!

  • @Ih8ads

At that moment, most high-rise calls only worked on the low-rise side.

If you saw the other video, you'll see the low-rise side accepting a call to 45, but of course, missed the car. :)

  • Those banks go to 27!!

You'd be surprised how many people didn't pay attention, and made comments worthy of removal.

The 2'nd vid, which I mentioned, shows the low-rise taking a high-rise call (as that's almost the only way they got accepted off-camera), but then I take the long way around, and miss the elevator. :)

I know. Funny thing is, usually when people record elevators, they are on their best behavior. This was one case they were not.

Best part are those who don't pay any attention to the video, telling me you can't enter high numbers on the low side. You can do that, and to really show attention failure, even the central panel didn't accept both high AND low numbers I punched in.

    That's Mi-"Chronic" 10 for ya'! :)

"Uhh, do we get off here? Hey. The doors are closing!" :)
