Time cures everything, but there are things we cannot and must not forget. Standing more than 100 feet tall, To the Struggle Against World Terrorism honors victims of 9/11 and the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and serves as a symbol of solidarity in the fight against world terrorism.

Created by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, the memorial was a gift from the Russian people. Dedicated on September 11, 2006, it stands in direct view of the Statue of Liberty and the former World Trade Center.

THE MEMORIAL AT HARBOR VIEW PARK Bayonne, New Jersey
Standing at 100 feet tall and weighing 175 tons, the monument was shipped from Russia to the United States in sixsections — weighing between 28 and 63 tons each — and assembled by a group of Russian artisans. Russian artist Zurab Tsereteli spent several months in the U.S. overseeingconstruction of the memorial.

  • I still feel the events of 911 as much as the next man, but is no one going to mention the elephant in the room? When I first saw this I was sure it was a photoshopped joke, and I am astounded to learn it's real. The intent may be heartfelt and pure, but I am a devout Catholic and a worker in the Church, and the first thing I thought was that's a great joke, it looks like a - wait, it's real?

  • @shazaka yeah it's real go to Bayonne and look at it... I'm confused it "looks like a.... what are you talking about?

  • was the inside of the Tear inspected? This weighs 40 tons! The questions is... 40 tons of what??? The outside is made of nickel according to the artist from russia who created it, Zurab Tsereteli , I think? "I hope they checked the inside?"

  • Fluoridated water Mandrake! It's a Commie plot to sap our precious bodily fluids.

  • Did you know a black teardrop is a bad luck charm?

  • Then it's good this one is silver

  • Really bugs the hell out of me that this wasn't wide spread in the media.

    At least it's unveiling.

Personal apology to the people of Russia.

    And a Personal Thank You

Thanks for posting this clip hmon

  • I am so moved by the concept of the Russian people shedding a tear for Americans who died in this tragic mistake.

    I Believe:

This is a monument to friendship from and between the Russian people to the American people.

  • Thanks!

  • @hmon lol ... you should have said it's made of unobtainium, of course which reference you use is up to you.

  • Huh, never heard about this on the news. Usually I'd toss out a 'In soviet russia' joke, but it kinda seems in bad taste here.

  • Gotta love the mobile Guard Tower in the final section of the video. Back ground and quick, but unmistakable...We live in a police state with state sponsored propaganda ...it's no wonder most of us have learned of this only today.

  • @100silverpizza there's always someone like you who can believe any urban myth you hear!

  • Which is more beautiful........the monument or the thought ?

    Thank you Russia..

  • Looks like an all seeing eye folks. Think Russia's having a little laugh at our expense lol

  • Why have I never heard of this before????? I hate the main stream media!!!!!

  • I'm glad that such a heartfelt Memorial was built. It's so beautiful and sad at the same time.

Art can bridge gaps even in countries that used to be at incredible odds with one another.

  • This is a good reason for america to become allies with russia!
