The heater might work. but you will have trouble keeping humidity out of the house during cooling. Some things work good on paper... but not when you build them.

The beauty of the "swamp cooler" mode is that you blow the moist air from the rocks out first, then draw the dry cool air in (recirculated indoor air to avoid humidity). A once a week spray of a mild chlorine solution could take care of any mold issues.
