  • Minnesota should have beaten Michigan three years in a row 2003,04,05, Barber, Russle, Maroney were the bomb. Michigan had B. Edwards, Avant

  • @McCainis4me

Clock was not working on the final drive. They anounced to the crowd in footage not seen here that time would be kept on the field.

  • 58-0.

  • I remember this scene and I also remember the next year when Michigan beat them and the whole team held hands as they went and got the jug back. This was a good day for Minnesota though, and looking back on it......you can't subside raw emotions, and Minny was just happy to win the game.

  • My dad was friends with Green Bay Packers Vince Lombardi, Max Magee, and Paul Horning. Murray and Vince were friends and had worked together at onetime. I guess my values were in line with these men-- and they knew all about hard play and the sacrifices required of a young man if winning was the top priority. I know the Michigan program has produced far more wins than Minnesota in the recent decades, as American moral and ethical standards have declined. Let's hope for a better future.

  • Personally, I've concluded that WINNING PROGRAMS don't necessarily produce the kind of "winners" that America so desperately needs. Murray Warmath was a great mentor-- he knew how to win, but more than that, I feel he prepared us for REAL life-- for those who had ears to hear and eyes to see. Show me a 'book of cars' and I'll find the exit door myself. Murray saved me from becoming someone I wouldn't respect, had I taken the easier path. Famous, he was, for long, hard practices!!

  • @gymman1031 A man who played at Ohio State must have had recruiting advantages there.

I met a few players over the years from teams we played. I have also had the chance to talk to ex-athletes from different major programs. I have learned much over the years about life-- integrity, merit, character, motivation, honesty; now that the internet is assisting us all to compare notes, I'd say Minnesota, and the program there, prepared me suitably to face reality and my existential fears.

  • @carefulcarpenter Mason is from Ohio, I believe. And I believe he was a finalist for the Ohio State job before Jim Tressel got it.

  • @FoxyHoxie119 Read my post~!

  • @gymman1031 Wasn't Mason from Ohio? I played for Murray Warmath and Cal Stoll back in the 70s. I went to Minnesota because Murray had integrity and didn't SELL me-- he simply showed some class I didn't see at my hometown Madison, Wis. Wis broke BIG Ten rules when they recruited me as a junior. Michigan pulled out the CAR book for a couple of my teammates and asked which they would like. Wis offered me a Pepsi summer job paying high wage. Murray had integrity-- I preferred that to MI wins.
