About three hours later I had myself a rustic looking log bench made from cedar eight foot posts. I used a electric chain saw and ripped two of the eight foot posts in half. I used a chalk line to mark my center length ways along the post. It took some effort to do this and I had to sharpen the saw twice in the process. I cut the bench ends at two different lengths two at 45 inches and two around 35 inches. I countersunk the 2 1/2 in. deck screws in the main frame of the bench and put two braces under the seat to the out side legs. The seat cross pieces were grooved out and the screws put in flush. The project then was sanded down with a grinder and sanding wheel which takes very little time to do. Just ad two coats of GlossyVvarathane to the cut portions and your done!
