The world premiere of the completed suite "Spes Est" composed by Kyle Valentine.
Performed at the Bologna Performing Arts Center at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss., on April 26, 2011 by the DSU Wind Ensemble, Chorale, and Delta Singers.
This is the third movement of the suite. See lyrics below.
The piece belongs to the composer, Kyle Valentine. This was filmed originally by me, Mary Beth Smith.

Lyrics:
Estuans niger interius.
In amaritudine,
Loquor mee menti
Factus de materia,
Cinis elementi.

Non me tenent vincula,
Non me tenet clavis

Sors imanis,
Et inanis.
Dies, nox et omnia,
Michi sunt contraria.

Veni, veni, venias,
Ne me mori fascias.

Carpe diem!
Carpe noctem!
De oppresso, liber!

Dum vita est,
Spes est.

Translation:
Burning black inside,
Bitterly, I speak to my heart
Created from matter,
of the ashes and the elements.

Chains cannot hold me,
Keys cannot imprison me.

Fate - monstrous and empty.
Day, night, and everything are against me.

Come, come, o come,
do not let me die like this.

Seize the day!
Seize the night!
To liberate the oppressed!

Where there is life,
there is hope.
