  • That's right Leontyne...set the record right about Fanciulla......It wasn't like many believe that the role was too heavy or demanding vocally but you were simply "overworked and exhausted" basically. Someone of this calibar technically and vocally, KNOWS how to sing !!!! Brava Leontyne !!!!

  • I like the way she backs him down about age and race. In regard to race she said, "The problem is not ours, but theirs." Brava!

  • ugh he has no finesse with his interview. she was masterful and overflowed with intelligence and grace. bless her.

  • I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, ADORE, HONOR MADAME PRICE! She is regal, yet humble. Gracious - even while reading. She is AMAZING in this interview. Ever artist should watch, listen and learn!

  • She is so down-to-earth and realistic about every single thing this incredibly annoying interviewer is drilling her about, it seems so easy from her point of wiew... so effortless to endure the bitterness of life along with the honey... And she has it- and had it, all figured out. A truly wise and intelegent lady.

And many thanks to Onegin65 for this channel, you will never know how much it helped me. :-)

  • Yes! Go Leontyne! Shut that jerkface down girl!

  • I like the way she shuts him DOWN!!!!

  • He is a silly silly man .... ugh..

  • It doesn't surprise me that this interviewer hounds her with these ancient, tired issues. They all have their agendas, and his just happen to be extra-conservative. What I don't get is why would she agree to a 7 part interview in the first place with this idiot? In 1981 LP was still very much in the forefront of the opera world - surely she could have her pick of journalists or at the very least veto power.

In any case, as other viewers have noted, she handles it all beautifully, as always.

  • I'm a little confused about the 35 year old reference. Most singers don't hit their vocal prime until their late 30s early 40's. A singer who's through at 50 wasn't singing with the correct technique in the 1st place. And she can still sing in her 80's! Heard a clip of her and my mouth dropped. And Mr. Domingo is still singing his face off. Isn't he about 70 now?

  • I like the journalist, he just makes his job =)
