William has what is called an Atrial Septal Defect (which means a hole in heart heart).
An Amplatzer Septal Occluder was inserted into a 15 mm hole in William's heart. This is the least evasive way to correct an Atrial Septal Defect.
The other way to correct an Atrial Septal Defect is open heart surgery where the doctor makes an incision in the patients sternum.
This ordeal has been an emotional roller coaster for William's dad.
