Ladies and gentleman, I give you the series premiere of one of the most underrated game shows of the 1980s, Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak!

What could I say, this show has it all, a great game show host (his chemistry with the contestants is equal to Richard Dawson or Steve Harvey on FF), a cool theme music, and the game play is amazing.

Yet, apparently, ABC thought it would be good to air it against the titans of daytime game shows, The Price is Right on CBS and Wheel of Fortune on NBC.

The quality is jumpy, but it's better than nothing.

A huge thank you to Rob from Game Show Garbage for sending me this treasure.

  • Feud ended in May 1995. Family CHallenge didn't bow until late September 1995, and probably didn't start taping until after Feud stopped airing. Gene announced Baby Races in 1993 while COmbs Feud was still on the air.

  • @zachhoran and he also announced The Family Challenge w/ Ray Combs while simultaneously announcing the Feud w/ Richard Dawson in the mid-'90s as well.

  • @megamanj2004X I guess television is a funny business, isn't it? The original pilot for this was actually intended for NBC in 1983. It was called "Party Line", and it was hosted by Gene Rayburn.

  • @bluebear1985 it should have been on at 10:30 opposite Card Sharks

  • Another reason this show got cancelled is because Bruce wasn't too hot in the United States as he was in the UK and He was considered to host the revival of Card Sharks but Bob Eubanks got the job.

  • @zachhoran Home Show was going to be cancelled for two game shows and they cancelled MG90 to expand The Home Show. Also Michael Brockman and Bob Boden were at ABC at the time.

  • Double Talk aired from Aug-Dec 1986, which came after Hot Streak but pre-dated Bargain Hunters

. The brass at ABC circa 1990 wanted to replace the Home show with game shows, and a fair amount of pilots were done for ABC around that time, including a new version of Gambit and SPlit Second and Body Language(called Body Talk), but only Match Game ended up on the schedule.

  • @DanZero77 I guess it showed, because after this show went off the air, the only other daytime game show ABC aired was "Bargain Hunters" with Peter Tomarken, a show which he called "a piece of sh**".

  • That is Gene Wood announcing.

  • Marc Summers did do some announcing for this show. Gene was moonlighting on some non-Goodson shows in between the two Feud runs; he was also heard on Your NUmber's Up, Win Lose or Draw(first season), and Love Connection. I don't think Gene was heard on Draw again after COmbs Feud bowed.
