He wasn't much of a comedian on Dean Martins Roasts. But he was a great actor in Columbo. And he played a great goofball on The Great Race with Tony Curtis.

I enjoyed Matlock but you really can not compare these characters (or actors) they were brilliant in their own way, each creating a special personality to the character they portrayed. On this list I will add Telly Savalas as Kojak. Great detective characters.

Of course this isn't the "Columbo" theme per se; it's the theme for NBC Sunday Mystery Movie, which alternated between "Columbo", "McMillan and Wife", "McCloud", etc. It was a cool theme song.
