VHS - An Emerging Disease in the Great Lakes (1 of 4) (Fall 2007)

In a late Summer 2007 interview with New York Sea Grant's Barbara A. Branca, Dr. Paul Bowser, Professor of Aquatic Animal Medicine at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine, discuss a disease of immediate urgency in the Great Lakes -- a disease known as VHS, viral hemorrhagic septicemia.

In this clip, Bowser introduces us to the lab where he and his associates study the virus and fish that it affects.

While showing one study sample, Bowser explains, "The virus has to get into a living cell -- we see the effect of the virus in the cell culture."
