First part of three - the documentary; "There Would Be Hugs and Tears, Songs and Stories" the making of "Kim and The Cinders".
Late in the summer of 2007 the three Cinders' sat down with producer The Great Nalna, of Tremolo Beer Gut fame, in two Volvo 240's and drove with a mobile studio to a secluded Swedish farm without electricity and running water. The idea was to get far away from everything but the music and use the secluded location and the deep forests for resonance. And that is meant literally: They recorded under a tree in pouring rain, on a stack of wood, in the darkness of night and in the early hours of the morning with fresh dew on the drums. They even recorded in the car's trailer while they drove through the forest. On the recordings you can hear everything from the blowing of the wind to the rustle of the leaves. Also, never far away, you can hear the huffing and puffing of the gasoline generator, which supplied the power to amplifiers and the mobile studio. After four days in the Swedish wilderness a legendary album was complete, and thereafter the final few dubs were made by Howe Gelb (Giant Sand) in Arizona and Maria Timm (Marybell Catastrophy + Maria & Metammit).
The entire recording was followed by documentarian Rasmus W Grønning and photographer Rasmus Weng Karlsen. Both video and stills will be part of the package of Kim and The Cinders' selftitled debut album. Please give a warm welcome to Kim and the Cinders!
