So, I expect my church to have its share of both good and bad. NO family can escape without disagreement, and "the church" is no exception.
The point, then, is using church as an arena to actively practice love as Christ has taught us. This means sincerely forgiving others when they are causing discord, and humbling ourselves by apologizing to others when we are the source of of the problem.
2) You can choose your church, but you can't choose your family. Being a part of a church comes with joys, trials, disagreements, bitterness, love, disappointment and hope for improvement-- just like a family.
There are happy, fun experiences & inspiring communication, activities, friendships, education, etc.
BUT, in every church, no matter the denomination, there will be: intolerance, resistance to change, fear and disappointment. This is unavoidable because it is part of the human experience.
1) There are churches, and then there is "the church" meaning the "body of christ", which is a metaphor for the family that god has given us to live within, here on the earth. There are different interpretations for who is included in the church--some believe that only people of their denomination are included; many believe that all other believers or self-proclaimed christians are part of the church. This is where we get the designation of being a "brother in christ" or a "sister in christ".
This is a really interesting question, and I am glad you asked it. (FYI, this is the only video of yours that I have watched.... so far. and I haven't read any of your self-info, so I don't know where your allegiances lie in terms of religion)
As a Christian, this is what I have to say about church:
I believe that we should not expect that the church can change something in our lives without first changed our hearts. What really matters to God is what we are, what we think and what we feel. The church is only a guide, a search or a refuge where we can demonstrate our gratitude for our existence. God is within each of us, just stay silent to hear Him.
