A 14 day journey in the Temagami wilderness. This is the Ottawa Temiskaming Highland Trail. The trail is over 100km in length and very rugged and very challenging. In fact, this was the most challenging thing I've ever done in my life.

We started with a bit over 50 pounds on our backs (only 2 of us).

You'll notice the video shrinks momentarily, I dropped my video recorder in 5 feet of rushing water. I dug through every rock and crevice before finding it 20 minutes later. I let it dry off for 2 days, luckily it worked for a bit but some of the footage at the end became corrupted.

Missing/Corrupt footage: Grand Campment Bay, Nagel Bay, The Perch, Guiding Spirit Lookout, Evergreen Pond Creek. (we'll make longer videos in the future subbing these areas with pictures, I don't believe I can recover the missing videos they seem quite damaged).

Thanks to Les, Murray, Vicky, and everyone else who made this trail possible, it was an absolute blast and it saddens me I wont see something that amazing and do something that amazing for a few years to come.

  • Oh also, just a note, 3:00 is actually Copper Lake (a bit aways from Latchford), it's quite a bit further on. Also kind of disappointing since that lake looks amazing but it's filled with leeches. The trail doesn't get easier, so just expect torment through out the entire journey. But man what an accomplishment when you do it.

  • Funny enough me and my buddy originally tried it in July of 2009, and we had to stop short then. That's why we planned again and this time went in spring (this was from May 14th to about the 28th of 2010 if I recall correctly). The bugs become intense beyond Snort Lake. Also at the powerhouse when the blazes go away during the ATV trail was a bit confusing. It always feels uphill but feels like such an accomplishment to get to the end.

  • when did you guys hike the trail looks like spring time?. Me and friend hiked it in Early July. Bad time to go we hiked from Latchford or the end of the trail to before Hearst LAke, we were planning on goin got Temagami, but it was sooo hot, my friend was getting heat exhaustion we had to call it off. Great shots at around 3:00 we were there, right near Latchford great spot. The trail became really bad after that though, difficult to find the markers, going back in fall or spring not summer.
