The Traditional Music Forum is a network, supported by the Scottish Arts Council, of activist individuals and representatives of key organisations working in traditional music in Scotland today. These organisations include Feisean nan Gaidheal, Greentrax Recordings, Feis Rois, the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music (Plockton High School), Hands Up For Trad, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, the Traditional Music and Song Association, the National Piping Centre and the National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs.
The Forum aims to advocate the place for traditional music at the heart of Scottish life and to promote access to it in a range of contexts. It is a key resource for information and advice on traditional music for the Scottish Arts Council, and other public bodies. This video was commissioned for the forum to help people understand what goes on in Scottish traditional music.
