Rebecca Ferguson - Take Care (Jamie XX and Gil Scott-Heron Cover)

In 2010 Rebecca Caroline Ferguson auditioned for the XFactor. This shy and timid 24 year old stepped on to that empty stage barely making eye contact with the judges and audience and looked completely out of place. The audience and viewers automatically dismissing her as just another average singer who dreams of making it as big as Beyonce in the music industry. They couldn't have been more wrong. Singing Sam Cooke's 'A Change Is Gonna Come' she silence, stunned, shocked and amazed the nation with her powerful and beautiful voice. After finishing the judges commented on her voice referring to it as 'moving' and 'emotional' however they told her she needed to connect with her audience otherwise she wouldn't be able to progress any further. It seems that criticism was taken on board instantly and Ferguson managed to finish 2nd in the competition - a very long way since her first audition - Ferguson was unrecognisable, that vulnerable scouser was long gone. Her debut album 'Heaven' managed to reach #3 in the UK Album charts & her first headline solo tour was a complete sell out! People were going crazy for her & can you blame them? Her cover of 'Take Care' was phenomenal and had every audience member, old & young on their feet & even Rebecca broke out into dance halfway through. This is a real success story & while X Factor mainly produces weak and unoriginal artists I truly believe Ferguson is in a league of her own & will go far!
