My name is Maher Louis. Export point data out from an AutoCAD drawing to a TXT or XLS or MDB file using the command EATTEXT. LIDAR data is often provided as TXT, but what if you're provided a DWG instead...how do you extract the data? This is for Civil Engineers who want to know.

  • Thanks for commenting on my YouTube video about "Exporting point data using EATTEXT" command. Unfortunately the xlsx (2007) format was not an option in the Civil 3D 2010 command. So the next best thing is MDB and then export to TXT. That's what I'm doing right this very minute!

  • Thanks for the tutorials Maher.

Just a quick note the xls (2003) format only supports 65,536 rows. The xlsx (2007) supports over a million rows. So if you had over 65,535 points you would have to use .txt, .csv or .mdb
