  • Thank you so much for revealing this wonderful interpretation of a great work. I'd never heard of this pianist; she seems without limits in every way, brooding intensity, spontanaiety & passion and it's amazing how the ensemble pursue with unanimity & clarity. Having worn out my tape (live, SwissRadio)of Pletnev,Repin et al, I can find enjoyment again here in abundance.

  • Really glad you liked Tamarkina!

  • Now we have the trio and the quintet played by top-musicians! Thanks for posting.

Taneyev was a very interesting and talented composer. It is not for nothing that Tchaikovsky feared his judgement.

  • very glad to finally hear a different interpretation of this great piece. I've known it for quite a while, but the version i know is much faster... this version here feels more right and is defenitely more revealing and intense... amazing, this! and thanks! It's amazing how underrated this piece (and composer) remains...

  • Thanks a lot, truecrypt. I feel this quintet belongs up there with the "big four" (Dvorak, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms).

  • One day, I hope, cultural historians will study the resurgence of interest in Classical Music in the early 21st Century, and will find the sublime postings of TrueCrypt on YouTube helped educate an audience to listen and enjoy some of the finest pianists and chamber musicians of the 20th century, many of them Russian. A Knighthood, if not a sainthood, may be in order, even!

  • I first discovered Taneyev about a year ago while surfing through Sirius radio on a long trip road trip. I was enthralled with what I heard and immediately looked up his volumes of work. He was very prolific in his life but has unfortunately not been as appreciated as he should be. I found that Amazon lists a huge catalog of his work much to my satisfaction.

  • Wonderfull!!!!!

  • I'd never heard of Taneyev. Wikipedia has a fascinating article about him. I especially got a smile reading about his connection with Tolstoi's wife--and Tolstoi's response in the form of his crazy short story, The Kreutzer Sonata. I've always found amusement in that story ;)

  • Thanks for uploading this. Is the first time I hear Taneyev´s music and I like it so much.
