Sir James Galway - Sir James Galway—"the man with the golden flute"—is widely regarded as both the supreme interpreter of the classical flute repertoire and a consummate entertainer. As one of the most televised and recorded classical artists in the world, Galway has become a legend. He continues to tour the world extensively, bringing his unique sound, superb musicianship, and dazzling virtuosity to audiences throughout the US, the UK, Europe, and Asia. In 2001, Galway became a knight of the British Empire for his services to music.
In this video he plays at Andrea Boccelli's concert in London O2 Arena 2007

  • dude. if you're gonna post james galway, you might as well post in high-def. and not cut out half the song

  • Agree about the length. But this was done at a huge arena so the quality suffers without high-tech tools unfortunately...

  • @cool4kidz sounds like an embouchure problem relax it and remember more air. Try watching Galways embouchure master class lol.

  • even under poor quality james galway sounds amazing (;

  • @Rexicano

    I agree...and can verify that that probably happened because I'm about to hurl myself from hearing this.

  • He manages to get (almost) an Irish flute tone on some of the long tones.

  • @cool4kidz Try using the lower jaw to change octaves. Also, visualize yourself nailing those notes, and increase tummy pressure a bit. (Breathe out of your tummy. If you lift your shoulders, you're not breathing properly. But, you may know this already ...

  • esta pieza es hermosa y esta parte me encanta

  • I'm not very fond of his vibrato, too choppy and at the same pace all the time, but I like his tone and articulation...and ESPECIALLY his flute!! also, his buzzing when he goes in the lower register, I learned how to do that by listening to him a lot.

  • @rexicano: you made me smile, indeed that's the one thing that keeps me from enjoying wholly Galway's music. He's got such an amazing tone that takes your breath away... but then that goaty vibrato kicks in and well, dang it, it's too much. C'mon Jimmy, it's too much!

  • @hadronfly

    Boccelli is puking in the back room after hearing the horrible vibrato of Galway.

    He said; "I'm blind, but that guy is deaf!"

  • so beautiful :)
