I first heard this song and then the original one, I got used to the cover version and I like it better, but it doesnt mean its better. Its a matter of taste, arguing about what is better or worse is nonsense.

I only heard the original version before this and thought The Killers would butcher it but wow, great job!! I miss the feeling of the guitar in the original, but great job nonetheless.

Actually I agree with what he's saying, Mark Knopfler makes the songs, both his voice and guitar licks, that's what gives it feeling. This however is much closer to a copy than a cover, when I think 'cover' I think a person's/band's own take on a certain song. I love the killers, but this version is totally rigid, no emotion or dynamic, it sounds like a decent singer performing over a midi karaoke backing track. That's just my opinion, but when I saw this I was excited, quite a let down.
