it was pretty damn sick......
-
happened to my '92 Explorer. the vacuum pump on the fuel pressure regulator went bad and it was pouring all the fuel out the tailpipe
-
7.3L is just a 6.9 bored out with a few different parts.
-
Isnt the 6.9idi and 7.3idi same engine apart from bore?
-
I bet the injection pump timing was retarded wasnt it?
I had a similar problem in a diesel once, on another I had an air leak, both smoked like this and sounded terrible and were a bitch to start.
I love american diesels.

bless you

Need to clean your injectors(powwibly rebuild them too) and tune your IP alot better.

the reason it was smoking is because it had a lot of un burnt fuel in the exhaust and 3 bad injectors and an out of time injector pump it runs smooth as a charm now though

Thats good, I got all original in injectors and IP in my 86 and it starts like a top. doesn't need glow plugs till about 40 degree.

since then my truck runns so smooth, and it has no problems, and oh yea it was full of raw diesel so thats why it smoked
