Moon Zoom - Sony DCR-SX40 60x Optical Zoom

Ever wondered if there is a camcorder that can have a good zoom that can reach the moon to see the details of the moon?

Now there is! it's Sony Handycam DCR-SX40 60 x Optical Zoom and up to 2000 x Digital Zoom but it's not detailed for digital zoom hence not recommended to go all the way into digital zoom.

This video is made without any telephoto lens attachment and you can see how clear it is but obviously without proper stabilization added, too much zoom also makes it not steady enough for astrology filming.

I think a better tripod is required for this or a better technology in camcorder.

I guess it's another trip down shopping for tripod! :D

@aganwin I think it's my camcorder stand is not secure or the moon is moving in maximum zoom it's like moving a mile per second or something...it's fast!

i have the same camcorder. what configuration did u set it. in order to see the moon that clear?

@spqdepot I can't really remember LOL but I think it's manual zoom to the max without digital zoom as it will blur out.

The rest of the setting is trial & error, took me like 40 minutes with clear sky to film the one above and the tripod also fail me as it kept moving down LOL
