So, heres a start & drive of the MTD Yard Machines tractor that I got for free. I spent the past 2 days working on it, it was one hell of a job to clean it. But now it runs pretty good, just needs a bit of work on the idle and needs a good battery.

Sorry about the really bad camerawork while i was driving lol

  • did you sell it already. im looking at a neighbors that wants me to buy it it looks like this one but looks a little lighter in color

  • @tylan13chuck yeah, I sold it maybe 1 or 2 months ago

  • very nice lawnmower for free

  • yup, i still use it to mow the lawn, only thing wrong with it is a bad OHV seal, so when it sits for a few days its smokey for the first 30 seconds or so when you start it, other than that i'm really happy with it, especially for a freebie

  • The Varidrive is great. Simple, single speed rear and a manual variable double pulley. Just remember, NEVER install generic belts on a Varidrive. Always use the MTD original belts. Generic belts are not quite the right size and will cause all kinds of annoying problems.

  • yeah, the varidrive is very simple and easy

  • i got a mtd varidrive, and also got a briggs i/c 16.5 ohv, both for free, both in peices, missing parts... mtd had no motor, now its got a pos tecumseh 3 horse, worst rod knock iv ever heard in my life... briggs needs a con rod, not broken but has metal transfer and is wrecked... hopefully, il convert it to horizontal for a go kart, its 500 furkin cc's...new con rod is 75 bucks at briggsdotcom... anybody got one hangin around for free?

  • I got one but the drive belt comes off since the idler pulley does not seem to be in line........still it was free
