Ae - EOM 09 The Crash Rt 421

Rt 421 Tennessee -- AKA The Snake
i completely miscalculated this turn, and then made the fatal mistake of touching the front brake. it was a split second of brake, but enough to make salvaging the turn impossible. i threw everything i had to the left, but off the road i went. stopped against the guard rail with about 1 1/2 feet of the front wheel sticking through it. nothing hurt but pride and the bike: scratched the plastic up front, scratched side bag, broken signal light, broken shift lever.

glad you made it out ok man, iv done the samething. i was ok but it but it bothered me that my purdy bike got damaged

not too bad. scratched the pretty red plastic and broke the end off the shift lever. i have a new lever now . . . one that folds in when (IF) it hits the ground. *snark*

yeah . . . preceded by "Oh My God the turn goes over THERE!!!!!" Then i made a desperate attempt to NOT DIE -- i let off the throttle, threw everything to the left, and target fixated . . . on the ground. In other words, given the choice of high-siding over the guardrail or low-siding across the pavement and testing my gear . . . . i went for the gentlest low-side i could manage. ;-)

Noob, try hanging off the bike then, you can bring the bike down to you if corner tightens up. That was a stupid crash man. Hope you improve your lines, and movement.

glad ur ok. it happens to the best of us. prob wont be ur last. it just comes with the territory. Get up with me on here if u ever head back up there. There are some cheap cabins just down the road and we usually travel 3 deep if not more. always looking for more riders to join us just as long as u stay off the damn yellow. Iv chased cars down for crossing it on many roads. The cops are good about pulling 18 wheelers over for running the road and asking them to find another route.

it happens to the best of us. good thing you could walk away. Im headed there tomorrow and hitting it all damn day Sat, but yes....can be very damaging to your pride. Best of luck on the restoration!
