DIGG THIS VIDEO... http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Ron_Paul_Third_Party_Movement

Third-party candidates this morning (Thursday), highlighting their shared frustration with the two-party system.

Presidential elections turn out to be a charade more than anything else, Paul said, and so he urged his supporters to vote for candidates who would expand the debate beyond the major partys platforms.

A phone call from McCain backer Phil Gramm yesterday was not enough to garner Pauls endorsement and didnt stop the Texas congressman from gathering the welterweights of the presidential race for an announcement of their common principles.

In addition to railing against the Democrats and Republicans

control over national politics, Paul and his guests outlined four common principles they saw the major parties ignoring. The diverse coalition expressed their common concern over an increasingly aggressive foreign policy, the erosion of civil liberties, the growth of the national debt and commercial influence over federal monetary policy.

The candidates assembled in agreement were the Constitution Partys Chuck Baldwin, a former officer in Jerry Falwells Moral Majority; the Green Partys Cynthia McKinney, a six-term Democratic congresswoman who had made a declaration of independence from this current political system; and independent candidate Ralph Nader, whom many consider partly responsible for Al Gores 2000 loss to George W. Bush. ...

  • Neo: "I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world without you. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you."

  • you te te te tell um Ron!

  • HEHE

  • Too bad Ron Paul opposed the impeachment of Bush and Cheney...

    a total wimp out.

Too bad, as well, that Paul did not challenge Bush in 2004 for the Republican nomination - another wimp out

  • @PegasusRPG "if they only knew about them" No, its the wasted vote syndrome. Our 1st past the post election system ensures that two is a magic number. Want to change that then you need a different counting system that allows transferable votes like Instant Runoff Voting.

  • I agree, but that does not mean that people of a particular party should not tell their OWN party whats wrong with them. Anymore there is just a blind following of partisanship. We need to be Americans first, not democrats and republicans first. Both parties need work and it will take their own constituency to tell them the direction they need.

  • What Paul says is true, but entirely moot. If Paul's faction beame the second party, I have no doubt it would then suppress the then 3rd party.

It is not that the GOP or Dem are rotten (which incidently they are), but that a 2-party system must act this way, as it is the only rational path through that set-up.

  • How different it could have been,, if only straight shooting Ron Paul had made it to the white house...

Obama is just another Bush, except on steroids.

  • tesnic sent me this candid camera video but i must say fleetwood i like your sound track better.
