The first special, Carry On Christmas, was broadcast in 1969.

It was filmed shortly after the completion of Carry on Up the Jungle and featured the same main cast from that film. It was scripted by long-term Carry On writer Talbot Rothwell.

The story was an irreverent take on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a misery at Christmas, refusing to share yuletide cheer with his employees and acquaintances.

When Scrooge is visited by three ghosts, we see what effect his miserly ways have had on those around him.

  • @coltmanm No it's a fear of young people or children.

  • @NoctisEreptor i dont mean to pry but isn't that a phobia of dolls lol

  • @coltmanm No he wasn't. Not really but he did have a thing about being scared of kids apparently, sort of mild paediophobia.

  • @NoctisEreptor really peter butterworth manic depressive

  • @FreyaBlack Think he loathed christmas. He would have spent it with his old dear, but according to his diaries he wasn't a christmasy person, same as Hawtree, but he needed the money. Still the men were mostly manic depressives, williams, hawtree, james, butterworth.
