http://www.linebacker-u.com -- In the second game of the 2008 season, the 19th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions, boasting 29 wins and three bowl victories in three seasons, played host to the Oregon State Beavers, who themselves were coming off 19 wins and two bowl victories in two seasons. Led by first year starters quarterback Daryll Clark and running back Evan Royster, the Lions rolled to a 45-14 victory, on their way to the 2008 Big Ten Championship and an 11-2 record. The Beavers would recover from the loss, defeated No. 1 USC the very next week, and finished the year ranked No. 24 with nine wins.

  • Amazing how three years can seem like forever ago. Daryll Clark looked like an All-American compared to Matt McGloin and like an All-Pro QB next to Rob Bolden.

  • I miss these teams

  • @nfranken25 I think if the team uses it as an opportunity to grow we could end up with some surprise upsets late in the year. I think Penn State has the tools to shut down Ohio State and Nebraska, but I see Wisconsin as a definite loss at this point. If all goes best case scenario, we could be looking at a 10-2 season. But for that to seem plausible I guess I gotta drink tons of blue and white kool-aid.

  • @MVillani1985 I agree, the conference does seem down I think PSU schedule is favorable until the last three games which will be very tough to get through. I think this team is very talented and the defense is very good this year, once the offense comes along and finds it then they could really get something going.

  • @nfranken25 This year's team is a lot like the 2004 team with great defense and putrid offense but I think with the conference not as strong as it was in 2004 and the potential for the offense to grow on Saturday if they have a big enough lead to practice all second half, we'll see some improvement.

  • @LMCMInterloper They're not snarky when they're true.

  • You just watch this game and see how much it helps this team when they have an O-line that is better than average and a QB that was a field general. This PSU team now i mean idk they are missing it big time.

  • Where your snarky annotations, LBU?
