Jazz in Antibes

Johnny Griffin - Sax
Ronnie Matthews - Piano
Ray Drummond - Bass
Kenny Washington - Drums

Recorded in Antibes, France on 24 July 1980

Sorry about the bad video/audio quality but this is the best I could come up with from a very old VHS tape!!

On the other hand, the music quality is just superb...all four players are masters of their domain... Ronnie & Ray are just music geniuses!! and for all the jazz pianists out there, check out Ronnie's amazing solo... what a legend Ronnie is!. As for the band leader, this video and jazz history speak for themselves.... Pity that the drum solo at the end was cut short....

I hope you enjoy this video as much as I do!!

  • man, this is just tops.

  • Pretty amazing tenor solo as well. Ronnie, Ray and Kenny, amazing as well. A quartet can make a powerful statement. Thanks for posting

  • Ronnie Matthews is my hero.

  • Steamin!

  • Great playing from Johnny, as usual. Too few cats are hip to just how bad the "Little Giant" was. The man could play tenor with the best of 'em.

  • olha eu ae rsrrs
