Cape Mulinu'u - Tufutafoe village, Savaii - Samoa (Pt. 1 of 2)

I went out to the village of Tufutafoe with my cousins (twins) & my uncle. Cape Mulinuu is located at Samoa's most western point and it's the last spot in the world where you can watch the sun set each day. According to legend, this is also the place where the dead pass into the underworld. There are several archeological sites of interest in this area, Fafa O Saualii (spirits/souls, dividing/end of the wind, last place for sunset), Paepae o Apaula, Va'atausili's cave, Vai Sua Toto, Malae Fono (ancient star mound/meeting place, Star Mountain).

I am so proud of this video. This is my brother and he is in the village to serve Tufutafoe as a matai. The Fafaosauaali'i is also in our coconut plantation. Where ever I go, I still look back the place where I was born.

unfortunately - the aai is not as beautiful as it used to be after the hurricane Val and Ofa - most people moved up into the plantations after that...but before the millenium, they rebuilt and cleaned up so its looking more and more like the old days now...

My parents used to be faife'au's in Tufutafoe back in the 80s for LMS church. The only person I remember was an old lady named Veve..don't remember her last name though. I was 3 years old. Hopefully someday I will visit Tufutafoe again.
