Psalm 23 - תהילים 23 - "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want".

Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, [a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

תהילים 23
1 מִזְמֹ֥ור לְדָוִ֑ד יְהוָ֥ה רֹ֝עִ֗י לֹ֣א אֶחְסָֽר׃

2 בִּנְאֹ֣ות דֶּ֭שֶׁא יַרְבִּיצֵ֑נִי עַל־מֵ֖י מְנֻחֹ֣ות יְנַהֲלֵֽנִי׃

3 נַפְשִׁ֥י יְשֹׁובֵ֑ב יַֽנְחֵ֥נִי בְמַעְגְּלֵי־צֶ֝֗דֶק לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמֹֽו׃

4 גַּ֤ם כִּֽי־אֵלֵ֨ךְ בְּגֵ֪יא צַלְמָ֡וֶת לֹא־אִ֘ירָ֤א רָ֗ע כִּי־אַתָּ֥ה עִמָּדִ֑י שִׁבְטְךָ֥ וּ֝מִשְׁעַנְתֶּ֗ךָ הֵ֣מָּה יְנַֽחֲמֻֽנִי׃

5 תַּעֲרֹ֬ךְ לְפָנַ֨י ׀ שֻׁלְחָ֗ן נֶ֥גֶד צֹרְרָ֑י דִּשַּׁ֖נְתָּ בַשֶּׁ֥מֶן רֹ֝אשִׁ֗י כֹּוסִ֥י רְוָיָֽה׃

6 אַ֤ךְ ׀ טֹ֤וב וָחֶ֣סֶד יִ֭רְדְּפוּנִי כָּל־יְמֵ֣י חַיָּ֑י וְשַׁבְתִּ֥י בְּבֵית־יְ֝הוָ֗ה לְאֹ֣רֶךְ יָמִֽים׃

Hashem [lit. 'the name'] is my shepherd [lit. 'watcher']; I shall not want.

[Hashem] guides me to lie down in green pastures;

Leads me beside waters of menucha [rest, tranquility].

Hashem restores my soul [breath];

And leads me in paths of righteousness for the sake of the Holy Name.

Even when I walk in the valley in the shadow of death [live in fear of death], I will fear no evil

for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff-they comfort me.

You set a table before me in the face of my adversaries;

You anointed my head with oil [oil - used to light the Menorah, symbol of Torah wisdom];

my cup overflows.

May only goodness and kindness pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of Hashem, the Creator, for the length of all days.
