Update: First and foremost! If you want to know how to make this saddle, I would suggest you buy the tutorial/booklet!
I bought the book(it's 50 pages long, includes all templates, measurements, and instructions WITH detailed pictures) from Carrie Olguin.
For her website: http://www.keriokie.com/

For the page for THIS saddle/tutorial:
http://www.keriokie.com/tack/books/english1.htm

I would suggest you buy this tutorial if you want to make a saddle that looks like this, or in fact, better!

I made a new saddle!

Improved a LOT! But ran out of leather now :(
I hope you all like it! I'm thinking of once I get leather to start selling them.

No girth or Stirrups are yet made for this saddle, but it DOES have stirrup bars for adjustable stirrups.

  • Ya that does help oh and how how do u bend the aluminum and where do u get stirrups

  • @91520lastar No problem ^.^ I got special scissors to cut the aluminium and then use pliers or my hands to shape it. I believe you can buy stirrups from Rio Rondo? I use to buy stirrup charms for necklaces and bracelets for my stirrups as it was too pricey to buy from rio rondo(including shipping). I'm sure though you can also make it out of wire and all :)

  • Could you tell me where you get your leather? (like if it's a website) and also, would you mind doing a tutorial, with VIDEO and literally step-by-step sometime? My saddles look similar, but they still look amateur without the lacing and everything. I emphasized video because most people put a slide show like "put this on....now this.... and then this" and they don't go into detail. Plus, it's hard to follow with a slide show haha! Thanks in advance!

  • @ElegantUnicorn Hey there! Sorry for the late reply! I sadly can't show you the step-by-step video because I bought a tutorial in order to make this saddle. The booklet/ tutorial was made by keriokie.com. She has some AMAZING books for sale and I would definitely purchase them if you wish to make tack, especially saddles. They are very detailed, step-by-step, comes with templates and measurements for both traditional and classic scale. As for the leather, I bought it from Utterly Horses.

  • how do you get it to be shaped so that it is not just flat !!!!!!!

  • @laurabonnie It has a metal/aluminium tree with sponge/foam ontop of it and on the bottom for the cushions/panels. It was then completely lined with Sheep-skin leather.

  • wow thats really really good!!

  • Thanks

  • @Roxi4 That's fine! I'll check it out, thanks!

  • @91520lastar Thanks for the comment! Yes, it does have a tree. It's also got sponge in it. The tree is made out of aluminum which I bought at a hardware store. The sponge/foam was added on the bottom to give it the two panels/cushions. Sponge was also supposed to go where the knee pads were, but I couldn't figure out how to works. The leather was bought from Utterly Horses. They said that is was *sheep skin* but I'm not exactly too sure. I hope that helped :)

  • Does it have a tree and what is it made out of?

  • @cobaltisfav That looks nothing like it's made by breyer...Breyers stuff looks cheap.
