@johndeereman451 He acutaly died! the engine had no water causing the boiler to expolode.. it killed like 6 people and injured 47. This engine today is in a crime lab. It happend in medina ohio

Its a large engine which has high amounts of steam pressure.. eventulay the saftey vaulve will pop off. Its not a bad thing its just releasing steam. Usally they pop off at 100 pounds of steam which is average.. i have grown up around them its not scary at all

I had people stop at my place that use to own it before we did and they were telling us that their great grand father was working a field with a case 110 steam tractor and he got off of it cuz he saw somthing and it blew up and people found parts a 1/4 mile away he walked away with minor burns he was very lucky

I've been around steam engines for 27 years and have learned that a good engineer never lets the safety valve pop. Should always have control!

@ddog7831 not really, the damper was probably shut all the way anyway. that pop was going to go weather there was anyone on the plate or not.

that's a poor engineer to have left the engine unnatended for such a time that the pop valve would blow.
