i'm so excited . . . you are close, but not quite right-on it . . . you say Chicago, 1957 and also 1958. the years are right, and the 1 inch foam/crepe sole (we called them wedgies) i was from West Los Angeles, CA - I recall ours only came in (not real leather) they were either white, black, light pink, or a light blue. I am Mexican-American. We liked the white or black teardrops, and the bunnies too. You slipped your foot into these ( no tying) ,

Doowop at its best.! The 5 Satins did so many great records, one of the best doowop groups of all time.
