@ThePinkMan I read that Bruce Lee was against practicing martial arts in sports because it teaches the practionioner to pull its punches and has too many rules. With that being said, grappling arts are much better suited in sports and non-life threatening situations.

@Henilla Some people think that. Others want to test themselves against other martial artists. That' why there are several successful mixed martial artists with a JKD base.

@ThePinkMan Bruce Lee also said that martial artists should test themselves and avoid "swimming on dry land." Testing yourself is exactly what sport fighters do, and MMA is the closest legal thing you can do to a street fight. I think he would've supported MMA if it was around during his time. Grappling and striking arts are equally important, whether for sport or street. When someone grabs you and throws you down, you have to have a good sense of balance on the floor in order to escape.
