  • I have a tecumseh i gotten from my parents,.. the belt was snapped and replaced,.. upon opening it to replace the belt I noticed a chain on each side to each wheel,.. half a chain link was laying inside,.. so one chain is busted,.. any ideas on how to get inside to it and replace it?

  • @STreeMonkey can you please tell me what kind of snowblower and what the model no is so I can look at a drawing>

  • Hi Mike - thanks for the great videos. I found them last year.

I have this same model, and when I pulled it out just now to change the oil for the new season I first filled the empty gas tank.

Fuel began squirting out of a small hole in the center of the primer pump! Please tell me this can be normal...

So after that I had fuel leaking from the bottom of the carburetor. That I can understand - it probably needs a new bowl gasket or even a bowl.

    Advice?

  • @tomfarr56 sounds like the little vent on the side of the carb is clogged. this will prevent the float from closing and fuel will find its way out from several different locations - or your float may not be closing due to debris in the fuel bowl.

  • Hey mike i just rebuilt My carb . It a non adjustable carb. I replaced the O rings on the center jet under the bowl nut jet. I soaked the carb in cleaner for 48 hours and put a new gasket in the float needle i dunked the flaot to make sure there was no holes in it and still got a power surge it reves and back fires then surges up and down. Its a tecumeh 8 hp Hmsk80 .

  • @Vistal11 did you replace both orings on the green main jet

  • @mikesequiprepair yes i did ..

  • @bongchoker Greetings - sorry it took so long to answer. This sounds like a fuel related problem or possibly a stuck float. Try running with a full tank of gas for starters and let me know if the problem persists.

  • First of all thanks for all the tips i have gotten from your videos. Great stuff! I have four tecumseh engines all on gocarts. I have got them running pretty smooth. Just need to do some clutch and torq-con tweeking now. I have alot of small questions though, and its hard to find somebody who truely knows what they are talking about. One of my motors cuts out and sometimes dies when hitting alot of bumps and rough ground. Any tips on what to do about it?

  • Thank you so much! because of this video, my snow blower runs again!

  • @tomfarr56 That happened to me too! only once when I flushed out the dirty gas and cold started it with new gas.. just tighten the carb screw until it stops and hold the primer until it stops. Let it sit for the fuel to settle then slowly undo that screw to where it should be. seems a weird way but it worked for me. It didnt happen again after that
