Rachel TOTALLY deserved the Horse of the Year!!! That is a NO BRAINER!!!
I am not saying Rachel is any faster than Zenyatta. ZENYATTA IS A GREAT HORSE. But I am just looking at Rachel's accomplishments for 2009. Rachel did more than ANY 3-year-old filly EVER did!!!!

HOTY is exactly what it is. Horse of the YEAR. Not horse of the Career. Zenyatta ran against horses 5 times this year who never had on G1 win. G3 horses at the most. The best filly she raced this year was St Trinians, who neither has a G1 too. Blame had run against open company, all [To the exception of Etched,Espoir City and Lookin at Lucky] where in the BCC.

Rachel is amazing as well as Z!! She deserves hoty. But its funny now this year that Z "barley" lost the BC and that they want to give Blame hoty just because he won it when this year for sure 2010 Z has accomplished much more and considering her whole career (which i know you only look at current year)

Zenyatta do not deserve it more. and Horse of the Year is what you get from what you have done that year, you can not count Zenyatta's Breeders Cup Ladies classic. she won that in 2008. wait until rach and z starts to compete before you say anything rash.

Zenyatta do not deserve it more! Z is an absolutely fantastic horse, but Rachel Alexandra had the better year and is the better horse, plus that Rachel had a very tough year and tested more than Zenyatta.

She just won HOTY!!!! I prefer Zenyatta, but really I love them both. So hard to decide!!! I am happy for her though, but still sad for Zenyatta! Cant wait to see them next year!

Wonderful !!! I did not know it was already clear, you know, we are a bit behind over here in Sweden, haha. I had a feeling that she would be Horse of the Year 2009 ! And Rachel Alexandra is worth it ! <3 And Zenyatta is a wonderful mare too ! it'll be great fun and exciting to see them run this year !!!
