http://www.ted.com "Eat, Pray, Love" Author Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses -- and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius. It's a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate.

Well, this must be why and how faith begun. A way to keep a fragile human mind sane.

Perhaps until we know where consciousness & subsequently creativity originates, her suggestion seems compassionate.
Today, science would say it is likely that consciousness is a manifestation of the brains chemistry, but that would be like attributing the images I see on TV as originating from the TV, when we know differently. As professor Krauss often says, "I try to not decide what the answer is before I have asked the question"

great speach and the points are so well structured and organized; however i do not fully agree with her on the fact that if we inplant into humans the idea that creativity comes from a place foreign rather than deep inside us, our creative work would become better. sure, that would liberate from stress more artists, but taking a belief like that would fully harm the productiveness. instead, artists should develop a sense of inner equilibrium over their emotions, not drop the responsibility
