The Bolshoi Ballet's Irek Mukhamedov as Spartacus and Lyudmilla Semenyaka as Phrygia, performing my favorite scene. So lovely.

Wonderful to me to imagine that something so eternally beautiful could have sprouted from the artistic desolation of the post-war Stalinist hell. Whenever I doubt the truth and the mission of the vast majority of people globally who represent humanity's modesty, humility and relentless struggle just to be, I listen to this and am reminded that whatever "it" may be, it must always be worth it.

Press (Show the comment) for a Latin adaptation of the story of Spartacus. I thought I'd give that a go! :)

Olim Spartacus insignis gladiator erat, omnes Romanes amabatur.
