GTX 280 without 8-pin power connector

"Modding" a GTX 280 to run on only two 6-pin PCIE connectors instead of both 6-pin and 8-pin connectors. This trick is to jump the two missing connector holes together or connect them with another ground (preferably on 6-pin). This *should* work on any card that needs an 8-pin connector.

Do NOT use this as a permanent fix unless you are willing to risk losing your card.

Please do not try this if you do not know what you are doing. I will not take any responsibility for any damages done to your hardware.

Well you have to expect it if you are going to run it below the recommended power :p. It's just a little to trick to make the card usable if you don't have the adapter or connector on your power supply.

Very nice. Are you running it as your PhysX card along with the 8800 or are you running it by itself and leaving your 8800 lying on a shelf somewhere =D. 'Cause I need a temporary replacement while I send my 280GTX away for RMA.

It's beside my PC for now but I'll try to run it alongside the 280 later. I'll need to mod a dedicated PSU for that so I guess I'll make another video :p.

all you do is jump pin 7 and 8 toghether!!

but you will notice a complete decrease in bios graphic and 3d graphic that is if you get any 3d graphics!
