Some of Barack Obama's first appointments are troubling to say the least. Rahm Emanuel, a man who many consider to be one of the most hawkish, blindly pro-israel members of the democratic party (well, maybe after Joe Biden) is Barack's new chief of staff, and Colin Powell, the swindler who sold the UN on the Iraq war with lies, has also gotten the nod. Could it be that the american people have been swindled? Or is it true, as I suspect, that this is exactly what the voters really wanted all along? A new G W Bush who will continue business as usual while soothing our troubled national conscience by paying lip service to change?

  • obama is friends with pflp, REAL TERRORISTS!

  • The pflp may well be terrorists, just like the irgun were terrorists, but that is not really relevant. Obama has pledged undying loyalty to israel, taking an even more extreme position on jerusalem than Bush. I see no reason not to believe his words to AIPAC, but I would love it if israelis rejected him anyway, it would be poetic justice.

  • you know when the irgun bombed the king davis hotel, they called and told everyone to get out. why is it that you think all of israel is bad and racist when, you don't live here so you have no idea, and you read anti semetic info, wut do you think that stuff is going to tell you, that shit that you read is as big of a liar as obama is.

  • Are you saying that it is ok to dress up as arabs and blow a hotel up as long as you call in first? If the israeli historians are anti-semitic then yes, I read anti-semitic material. But you know, I have to give Emanuel credit, his father made a racist statement about arabs recently and he publicly apologized, that was a decent thing to do, now if only he will stop advocating war I might actually support him.

  • Mexican, your history is faulty. I am pleased to see that Obama has strong Israeli suport on his team. Emanuel may be a little nutty, but he is PRO ISRAEL and that is all I care about. At least Obama isnt selecting these nutty left winged radical blacks with names like LaQuanta.

  • I, unlike you, care about america more than I care about israel. Israel is for israeli politicians to worry about, america is for american politicians. By the way, israel is a racist regime, an apartheid regime, an insanely militaristic and authoritarian regime which violates more UN resolutions and international law than any other country on earth, and right now they are starving the people in gaza and have kicked out all the journalists so no one will know what's happening.

  • I would say that those who kill innocent people, no matter who they are, are equally bad, but I would also say that overall, in the conflict between israel and the palestinians, the palestinians are unquestionably in the right and they deserve respect for the way they have resisted occupation and colonization, and much of that resistance has been nonviolent.

  • they are all the same

  • Its heartening to know that there r still a few westerners like urself courageous enough to speak the truth. People have 4gotten history. The true root causes of the problems we face. But what i dont understand is r Palestinians put in the same balance as the Israelis. Palestinians r a people fighting for their existence & for their land that has been stolen from them.

  • If you call people nazis for criticizing israel, first of all it means nothing, second, you are legitimizing naziism and encouraging people to hate you and to be racist, and third, you are blocking all criticism of the government of israel. Now, do you really think that's a good thing? Would it be good if americans reflexively defended everything our government did, no matter what? Would our government ever feel pressured to do the right thing, instead of the expedient thing?
