  • It is really nice to see fellow sopranos or singers alike to conduct interviews such as this. Cheers to both Fleming and Mattila. And OMG, for a tall lady like Karita, what a split! Brava Divas!!! I think Fleming should do a show on opera singers like this!!!

  • I agree 100% with utlandagatan. Some should better listen to Karita before commenting. If they hear her singing "Soave sia il vento" (Farewell trio in "Cosi fan tutte" - with Marriner & ASMF, von Otter, van Dam), even the most heartless will become speechless - and won't comment again. Renée Fleming sure is a great soprano, but can't compare. And here we see Karita is as simple and direct in life as pure (incredibly pure) in singing.

  • Mattila is so beautifully crazy! However, she is a great singing actress. Personally, I don't like Fleming as she is too affected for me.

  • lol lovely Karita, she is fixated with her age. Probably because she´s 47

  • lol lol Karita's lovely!

  • The two greatest sopranos of our time...

  • I think some of your comments are quite out of place. We just have two great professionals showing their enthusiasm and admiration for one another, and in a world as competitive as opera it is an absolutely exceptional moment that should be cherished not trashed.

  • I must correct (slightly). I just remember that when hit by Karita's incredible "Soave", the CD was unavailable, so I tried all the other records. All were way behind, excepted the one with Fleming, Solti (DECCA), that while clearly behind was really remembering Karita and Marriner. Also, Fleming, amid her somewhat variable quality, really reaches highs in *some* of her "Dove sono" or "Porgi Amor".
