i dont even know why the train goes there. its easier to just bus them to winter haven than to do all this. but its way better than the aburndale flip flop.

Thanks for sharing. I have so many fond memories of standing on this very platform and watching the Star, Meteor, Champion, and Floridan coming in during the 70s. Glad to see that Heritage Fleet cars still survive today.

I liked it, how often does a train back in to a station like the days of old? Plus they let you go onto the platform and watch all this. Savor the moment

Because as a "Union" station, Tampa had multiple passenger trains being operated by different railroads. Definitely pre-Amtrak. Some trains would terminate as their tracks didn't continue on, hence having their trains turn around at the end of the line. Tampa was a hub. much like Chicago. It's possible to eliminate the backing in from a Wye track but it would be expensive.

if you really want heritage equipment, ride VIA Rail "Canadian" sometime. I should post those vids of the 2 trips I took a few years ago.
