And yet, even outfitted like this, the A380 burns considerably less fuel per passenger than EVERY other airliner in the sky today. EVERY other airliner.
The best thing to do would be to take the rant where it truly belongs - smaller, less efficient aircraft.
With the A380 we really can have our cake and eat it too, and that is its true achievement.

Obviously an aircraft that is 40 years younger then the nearest competing aircraft (747) would be somewhat more fuel efficient and offer more comfort and passenger amneties.
If we compare car of today with cars that were designed 40 years ago - well I think the comparison is fairly obvious.

@RunwayGirlMaryKirby interestingly enough, as much as people ooh and ahh over Emirates business class on the a380, the seat is only 1/2 inch wider than their economy class seat. Obviously the seat is of nicer quality and privacy is much greater in biz class. I guess I was just really surprised to find out that biz class seats are only 1/2 inch wider than economy class' seats

Emirates has a hard and fast rule about not allowing anyone to take video inside the aircraft when passengers are on board. So my tour was just before we took off. I was amazed at what I saw so my reactions are genuine (even if I sound PR-ish). I flew in business and had the ride of my life so I can only imagine what first would have been like. Interesting note, despite all the luxury in first and business, a lot of people gravitated towards the bar.
