I think much of the movie as I recall was about Kovacs' personal battle to gain custody of his two daughters from a previous marriage.

I wonder if the real Ernie Kovacs an his second wife and fellow
performer..Ms.Edie Adams ever performed on tv as "Mr.Percy
Dovetonsils and his mom"?

Mr.Goldblum is not Ernie Kovacs..at least in terms in trying to recreate
Ernie's approach to sight gag and character comedy.But..he did play the
misery that his ex wife gave him. When she kidnapped their two daughters.

I wish it 's on DVD so it'll be fun to watch it anytime. It was first aired on ABC-TV the network that the late Ernie Kovacs worked in from 1959 to his tragic death in 1962. 48 years ago this month.
