Quite A Match!

This has been quite a year for Hilton Software's WingX program... not only did they put together a truly inspired mobile information system for pilots that easily installs on just about any Phone/PDA powered by a Windows operating system, but it seems that Jeppesen kinda got caught up in what they did, as well... so much so that they have entered into an agreement to use WingX at the core of their new mobile offerings.

Jeppesen Mobile was designed to be "the perfect solution for pilots who demand the utmost portability in a flight planning and pre-flight preparation tool. With fast, easy-to-use route planning, weight & balance, the latest METARs, TAFs & TFRs, animated weather graphics, IFR, VFR and ADIZ flight plan filing and much more right on your phone or PDA."

Based on the Hilton Software WingX application, the introduction of Jeppesen Mobile is designed to provide "a high-value, tightly integrated suite of pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight functions for your Windows mobile phone or Pocket PC." The application suite is primarily fueled by JeppGuide airport & airport services information; QCIP certified graphical weather images, FARs and FARs Explained and Airport Diagrams. Also included are the following"

Route Planning and Filing

DUATs Weather Briefings

Aircraft Weight & Balance
Animated Weather Graphics
TFRs (Temp Flight Restrictions)

Color-coded Text Weather

JeppGuide Airport Directory
Runway Layouts with SmartTaxi™
FARs and FARs Explained
Extensive Aircraft Library

Airport Search Functionality

Dynamic Flight Navigator™

Expirations Tracking Log

Integrated PodCast Capability
Advanced E6B Calculator

The new Jeppesen Mobile application suite is optimized to run on virtually all Windows Mobile 5 and Mobile 6 Devices (touch screen and non-touch screen) and reportedly works well on all known screen resolutions including 320x240, 240x320, 240x240, 640x480 and 480x640. Future versions for the Blackberry and Mac iPhone are planned as well. A list of specific devices known to be suited to this program are on the Jepp site, as well as answers to 'frequently asked questions,' and a User's Guide.

By the way... in case you want to "try before you buy," that's totally cool with the Jepp folks. You can download a demo version of Jeppesen Mobile software directly to your Smartphone, Pocket PC Phone Edition or Pocket PC by visiting the link attached to this summary. Check it out!
