Ok. I answered my own question. For anyone else that may have had this problem. When I downloaded Android SDK, I did not install a platform. I uninstalled Android SDK and reinstalled with a platform.
Also, I had a problem with renaming the .zip. I changed it to a .apk but instead renamed to .apk.zip. I simply renamed the .zip before moving the file back to the tools folder. Hope these help someone. good luck

Hey, everything went fine. Transferred file toandroid sdk > tools using the command prompt. But the .apk file does not show up in the folder... any reason you can think of that this may happen?

If you arn't rooted can you just pull the app straight to your sd card in the downloaded file and pull it over? Please respond soon.

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. Good clear explanation for us laymen.
Root is just so you can grab the apk file. If you can get it another way, then root its not required as adb doesn't require root to install apps.
