40mph of one car and 40mph of the other car does not mean 80mph closing speed - 40+40 crash is the same as 40mph crash in a wall.

The signs appear that the Volvo as a synonym for safety seriously sucks compared to the small plastic Renault extremely short front. It just does not make sense but ok, Volvo is still better.
